Sharing Your Internet Connection

Many people have more than one computer in their home. Why not share some of the resources?

Sharing your Internet service allows all of your computers to connect to the Internet at the same time.
Networking the computers together can make sharing files more convenient.
Sharing common resources like printers and scanners can allow for a better product to be purchased since you don't need to spread the funds between several computers.

Windows 7 introduced HomeGroup, an easier and more secure way to share files, music and photos between computers. However, it only works with other Windows 7 computers on the same network. You can still network Windows 7 computers with Windows XP computers, but that is more complex and doesn't have HomeGroup's advantages.

Routers

Routers allow you to connect several computers into a single high-speed Internet service. At the same time, the router "hides" the individual computers from those that may try to exploit vulnerabilities on your computer.
